Ceramic Grid Filters

Introduction

Grid filter is a low cost molten metal filter providing efficient filtration and controlled pouring rate for most metal compositions ranging from irons to light alloys.

The grid filter is unique in its conception and the precise design lends itself to consistent performance.

The grid filter is manufactured to close dimensional tolerances and is available in single, double or treble configuration dependant upon the efficiency required.

The product is carefully formulated to provide maximum adhesion of slag or dross inclusions. The highly refractory composition is high temperature fired to produce a filter with high mechanical strength and resistance to thermal shock.

Grid filters facilitate the separation of inclusions from the molten metal stream. This is achieved by a ?super filtering? action resulting in the trapping of sand, slag, refractory and other extraneous material.

Application Limits

For best results, grid filters should be applied in the casting running system, close to the ingate.

Usage

Grid filters can be used with shell, green sand, cold set resins, alkaline phenolic resins, Disamatic and other mould media. The product is designed to be inserted into a preformed cavity in the mould.

Benefits

  • Easy application
