Massive Steel Casting Produced Using HA Coating

One of the largest castings ever made has been produced at Sheffield Forgemasters in the UK with the aid of HA Coating ZIRKOPAL 7952A.

 

Despite the enormous weight and ferrostatic pressure of this 600 tonne giant the coating was able to give a clean strip with minimal cleaning cost.

6 x 100 tonne ladles were needed for simultaneous pouring to deliver the cast weight.

The finished casting was delivered to Germany to BOHLER as part of a press for aluminium sheet.

 

The meticulous planning and logistics and technical expertise won Sheffield Forgemasters the prestigeous award 'Cast Component Of The Year' awarded by the UK foundry industry Cast Metals Federation.
